Rules reference
Every tournament is stamped BCA or APA when you create it, and this reference is one tap away at the table.
Racking and breaking
Fifteen object balls racked in a triangle, 8-ball in the center, apex on the foot spot. A legal break drives four object balls to rails or pockets a ball. Pocketing the 8 on the break wins the rack under standard BCA play (a scratch while doing so loses it).
Open table and groups
The table stays open after the break no matter what drops. Groups are set only when a player legally pockets a called ball after the break.
Call shot
Ball and pocket are called. Obvious shots need no detail, but banks, combinations, and kicks must be called. The turn passes after an uncalled pocketed ball.
Fouls
Scratches, no rail after contact, and wrong ball first give the incoming player cue ball in hand anywhere on the table.
Winning and losing
Clear your group, then legally pocket the called 8. You lose by pocketing the 8 early, scratching on the 8, or dropping it in an uncalled pocket.
Condensed for table-side reference. The official BCA Pool League and APA rulebooks govern any dispute.
